 The Schoenhut High Wires

The high wire accessories make an excellent prop for the circus acrobats.

Horizontal Bar

The horizontal bar appears in Schoenhut's 1918 copyright catalog. The wires we have seen on these horizontal bars have all been round - curious because the actors don't balance well on a round wire.

Tight Rope

The Tight Rope was an early piece that was probably not produced for long since they are pretty rare today - especially ones that retain their original center paper illustrations. They were advertised only in the later, 1928 copyright, catalogs. It was also part of sets of acrobats. The "tight rope" that spans the cross supports is a piece of square, heavy gauge wire.

This is the acrobat set from the early 1900s. It contains a Tight Rope, 3 clowns, 2 gent and 1 lady acrobats, a hobo, and a poodle.
