Rabbit

by Judith Lile and Jim Sneed

The Rabbits
The rabbit was introduced in 1908 as part of the farm series. They are certainly not circus animals except as a clown prop. There are three designs known - one has glass eyes and two have painted eyes. All are regular size.
No decal eyes rabbits have been found.

Carved head, glass eyes

The first style was made with a carved head, glass eyes, leather ears and tail. The body was painted light brown over white.

Carved head, painted eyes

Following other animals, the eyes were changed to a hand painted design. Otherwise, the design was made the same as the glass eyes version.

Molded head, painted eyes

Finally, a molded head design was introduced. This head lacks the fine details of the previous two designs. Nose groves were not carved and the eyes were not recessed.
