This scene shows natives in dress not seen in
production pieces. One is in a grass skirt. A carved head lion is shown.
Two men in dark suits are a right.
|

This scene is a rearrangement of the one at left.
Teddy is shown at right center. Looks to be in a dark suit. He is riding
a zebu! The gorilla's face at left looks more like a hobo's face.

|

This scene shows the expedition members at left and
the natives at right. The natives are dressed in shirt and pants in some
cases. The chief has a white top hat - a reflection of that day's stereotypes,
most likely.
|

In this scene, the natives have rounded up many animals
for TR whose entourage is waiting with a cage and cameras.

Set No. 20/80
This set contained 17 pieces. Teddy and the
photographer joined one African negro. The cloth mane lion is shown but
other TR sets show a carved head lion.
|

Set No. 20/84 - 25 pieces
This set contained Teddy, the photographer, and the
guide. The photographer is clean shaven; the guide has a mustache and
pith helmet.
Teddy's real guide, Cunninghame, wore a full beard.

Photos of Set No. 20/86
Notice the misspelling of "Adventures". Six members of Teddy's party are shown and listed as:
Teddy, photographer, guide, taxidermist, doctor, and naturalist. Unfortunately,
we can't tell for sure which pieces are the doctor, naturalist, or
taxidermist. The man in the straw hat may have been the naturalist
since he is shown with a collecting bag. He has a full beard but no full
bearded Schoenhut character is known to exist. The man in the goatee is shown in
the lower photograph with a knife about to cut open the rhino. Perhaps
this is the act of a taxidermist?

Contents of Set No. 20/86
This set contained 53 pieces. If a complete one could
be found today, it would be worth a lot of money.
